The Friends of White Horse Hill is a non-profit volunteer organization that was formed in 1998 by local citizens with the desire to promote appreciation and support for the National Game Preserve. The Friends work in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The Friends provide support to the refuge in many ways:
Raising funds to support refuge priorities
Advocating for the Refuge System
Conducting outreach in the community
Planning public interpretive programs at the refuge

Fifth-grade environmental education program
North Dakota Junior Duck Stamp contest
Seasonal interns and volunteers
Trail improvements & interpretive signs
White Horse Hill overlook restoration
Public programming
Snowshoeing
Refuge cleanup
Friends organizations are essential to helping understand that the actions we take today determine the legacy we leave tomorrow.
